Motorcycle vehicle identification numbers are usually stamped into the steering neck of the motorcycle. This is located just above the front fork, which is where the steel wraps around the front tire to maneuver it, and behind the headlight, if a headlight is equipped.

The VIN is used to identify important facts about the vehicle. For example, the characters used in the VIN indicate statistics like the region and country of manufacture. It also has other characters that indicate what type of vehicle it is, facts about the engine and other components, and even the year in which it was made.
