A Maytag washer is generally a reliable appliance, however, there are instances when the washer may not work as well as it should. Follow these troubleshooting rules to determine how to resolve the problems.
Place a level on top of the washer
Check the level to see if the washer is even. If it isn't even, the washer may shake or move when in operation. Place a small wood block under the front of the washer and turn the adjustable feet until the washer is level. Remove the wood block and restart the washer. The shaking should stop.
Remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer
Use a small, sharp object — like a toothpick — to clear any gunk or debris that might be stuck in the filter if water does not seem to freely flow into the washer. Screw the hoses back into place before restarting.
Check that the door Is firmly shut
Close the washer door, then press the "Start/Pause" button to get the washer spinning if the spin cycle doesn't seem to be working. Be patient. It may take a few moments for the washer to begin spinning after you press the button.
Straighten the drain hose
Remove any bends or pinches in the drain hose if water drains from the washer more slowly than it should. Straightening the hose should allow for the water to flow more freely.
