Traditional Irish birthday greetings include saying "Happy Birthday" in Gaelic, which is "Lá Breithe Shona dhuit" and is pronounced "Law breh-heh hun-ah gwit." These greetings often take the form of a toast, a rhyme, a Gaelic phrase, an Irish proverb or a quote by a famous Irish person.
Another common Irish birthday greeting is the toast "Happiness being a dessert so sweet, may life give you more than you can ever eat." The toast "Fad soal agat," which means "Long life to you," is also popular, as is the Jonathan Swift quote "May you live all the days of your life."
