Traditional blessings for a new home include liturgical blessings performed by a minister, or any number of non-liturgical prayers. These may include readings from the Bible that relate to themes of home or God's providence.
The Catholic Church has certain prescribed prayers that a priest, or other approved minister, says for the blessing of a new home. The ritual includes responses by those present. The rite begins with the sign of the cross, and proceeds to a number of prayers asking God's blessing and protection on the new home. The rite includes specified readings from the Bible. The priest then sprinkles the new home and those present with holy water, and says the concluding prayers.
