Some traditional Amish recipes include Easy Never-Fail Noodles, Perfect Mashed Potatoes Every Time and Rich Sweet Cinnamon Rolls. The secret to the Perfect Mashed Potatoes Every Time is to add cream cheese, along with butter and sour cream, stirring well and adding milk and salt as required.
To make Easy Never-Fail Noodles, brown butter in a cooking pot and pour in chicken broth, water, chicken base with parsley, chicken soup and salt. Bring to a boil and add the noodles, then turn off the heat, cover the pot and allow to sit for up to an hour, or until the noodles are cooked.
For Rich Sweet Cinnamon Rolls, dissolve yeast in a large mixing bowl with warm water. Add flour, vanilla-flavored instant pudding mix, warm milk, beaten eggs, sugar, vegetable oil and melted butter. Combine the ingredients and transfer the mixture to a greased bowl. Cover and allow to rise to double the volume. Turn out onto a floured surface and divide in two, rolling each half out. Brush with butter and fill with brown sugar, raisins, chopped nuts and cinnamon before rolling up and slicing into rounds. Let these sit in a cookie pan to double in size again, then bake for up to 30 minutes before applying a glaze of powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract.
