What Is the Towing Capacity of a Toyota RAV4?
Last Updated Mar 25, 2020 1:30:17 PM ET
The towing capacity of a 2015 Toyota RAV4 is 1,500 pounds. Towing limits are more specifically determined by weight and distribution. A professionally-installed tow hitch is required to use the RAV4 for towing.
Due to its relatively low recommended towing limit of 1,500 pounds, towing anything larger than a recreational vehicle presents a potential problem for this small SUV. The RAV4's tow hitch receiver is pre-run with a standard wiring harness to connect brake lights and turn signals on an equipped trailer.
Remember that the RAV4 is designed as a personal use vehicle, Toyota warns that towing has an "adverse effect on handling, performance, braking, durability and driving economy."
