How Do You Tell If There Is a Ghost in Your House?

Paranormalists often claim that phenomena such as the inexplicable moving of objects, presence of light or shadow and generation of sounds typify the presence of a ghost or spirit. Ghosts are not acknowledged as real by the mainstream scientific community, but many people believe in their existence, and many traditions exist around their identification.

There is a short and basic process to determine whether or not perceived phenomena are the work of ghosts. Once this has been undertaken, steps exist to remove ghosts from an area if they are believed to be present.

  1. Journaling
  2. Journaling is recommended because it helps to record phenomena. The next step is to work hard to debunk these phenomena as supernatural through the use of basic reasoning. Assess each occurrence and see whether or not a logical explanation is possible. Once a logical explanation is found, the possibility of a haunting or manifestation can be dismissed.

  3. Communicate
  4. If no logical explanation can be found, the next step is typically to initiate communication with the presence. It is recommended that this communication be gentle and respectful in tone. Belligerent communication is said to bring out aggression in ghosts. Attempt to dissuade the ghost from behaviors that provoke fear or disturb an environment.

  5. Clear
  6. The process of convincing a ghost to leave an environment or cease certain behaviors is known as clearing. This process can lead to the establishment of an agreement between a space's living resident and any spirits inhabiting that space, which can help the resident feel safe and comfortable.
