How Do I Get Super Glue Off of the Lenses of My Glasses?

To remove super glue from eyeglass lenses, cover the glasses in paper towels soaked in water and soap. After several hours, pry off the glue. This six-hour procedure requires a soft towel, paper towels, a large bowl, water and liquid soap.

  1. Prepare the work area

Spread a towel on a flat surface, and place the glasses on it.

  2. Prepare the paper towels

Pour 2 cups of water into a large bowl, and add 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Swirl your fingers in the water to distribute the soap, and then place five paper towels in the bowl.

  3. Treat the glasses

Remove the soaked paper towels from the bowl, and place them over the glasses. Make sure all of the dried super glue touches the paper towels. Dump the soapy water out of the bowl. Turn the bowl upside down, and place it over the wet paper towels. Give the moist towels about four hours to loosen the glue.

  4. Remove the glue

Inspect the glasses, and dab the super glue with the towel. Dab and blot the glue until all of it pulls away from the lens. If some glue remains, put the glasses back under the paper towels, and let the glasses sit for another hour.
