A spiritual gift test is a quiz intended to tell the taker what his spiritual gift may be. Protestant Christians believe that spiritual gifts are special aptitudes imparted to believers when they receive the Holy Spirit, intended to be used for the edification of the church.
Spiritual gifts first appear in the Bible in Romans 12, which lists seven gifts: prophecy, service, teaching, encouragement, giving, leadership and mercy. A second list appears in 1 Corinthians 12, which includes the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, distinguishing of spirits, tongues and interpretation of tongues, and helps. Ephesians 4 adds the gift of apostleship and evangelism. The Bible says that spiritual gifts are given by God through the Holy Spirit for the purpose of edifying the body of Christ (the church).
