What Are the Specifications of the Caterpillar D7 Bulldozer?

Because “Caterpillar D7” refers to a wide range of bulldozers, the exact specifications depend on the individual model. The D7G and D7R WG LGP Series II are two available models.

With a turbocharged six-cylinder engine that can displace 640 cubic inches of air, the D7G is able to produce 200 horsepower at 2,000 rpm. This enables the bulldozer to move forward at a top speed of 6.2 mph and backward at a top speed of 7.4 mph. The D7G has three gears for each direction. Weighing 44,599 pounds, the bulldozer has 4,278 square inches of ground contact, six track rollers for each side, and a 12-foot wide blade on the front. The bulldozer itself is 17.3 feet long, 8.6 feet wide and 10.7 feet tall.

The more powerful of the two, the D7R WG LGP Series II runs on a 10.3-liter six-cylinder engine that produces up to 258 horsepower at 2,100 rpm. The 61,500 pounds heavy bulldozer also has three gears for each direction and top speeds of 6.6 mph and 8.4 mph when going forward and backward, respectively. The bulldozer has 8,974 square feet of ground contact, and applies 6.6 pounds of pressure per square inch. With the blade included, the bulldozer is 20.6 feet long, 8.3 feet wide and 11.7 feet tall. The blade can carry 16.1 square yards of material.
