Is Sociology a Science?
Sociology is a science; to study social behavior, problems and tendencies, social scientists use the same controlled research methods that are used in other sciences. Data is collected under the same controlled conditions and statistically analyzed by the same methods.
Reliable scientific studies and experiments are typically replicated and can be expected to show the same findings. Social scientists also replicate and base new studies on previously reported studies. The scientific method supports the validity and reliability of the study. The focus of sociological study is intangible, but it can still be measured scientifically following standard data-gathering processes and appropriate experiment design.
