Popular slang terms for a home run include “homer,” “tater,” “dinger,” “moon shot,” “round tripper,” “four bagger,” “tape-measure blast,” “four-base knock” and “circuit clout.” A home run that is hit when the bases are loaded is referred to as a grand slam. “Grand salami” is slang for a grand slam.

As of 2014, Barry Bonds is the all-time leader in career home runs with 762. He also holds the single-season home run record. Babe Ruth holds the record for the most seasons as home run leader. Lou Gehrig holds the record for most home runs in a season versus a single opponent.
