What Size Tires Will Fit a 15-by-7 Wheel?

Rather than just considering the appropriate tire for the rim, it is essential to consider the individual vehicle, each of which have variables that dictate tire and wheel size. These factors influence the correct tire size for a particular vehicle.

For vintage vehicles, such as the 1965 to ’73 Ford Mustang, the owner has the choice of either the 195/60/15, the 20/5 60/15 or the 225/60/15 for use on both front and rear of the vehicle. While the 245/60/15 will fit the 15-by-7 rims, the Mustang does not offer sufficient clearance for use of these tires. In addition, spring sag or modifications made to the vehicle affect the clearance, eliminating some of the owner’s choices.
