The exact discovery of silver is unknown because it has been around since prehistoric times. Objects made of silver have been found in Greece dating as far back as 4,000 B.C. Silver was also among the first metals discovered, along with gold, copper, lead and iron.
Silver has an atomic number of 47 on the period table, where its located in period 5 and considered a transition metal. The atomic symbol of silver is Ag. Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any element, as well as the highest thermal conductivity of any metal. It’s also the most reflective metal.
