A birth date can be used to determine a person's strengths and weaknesses according to numerology. The birth date is converted to a number which is then matched to a personality type. This life path number is determined by breaking down the birth month, the day and the year born. The single digits are added together. The multiple digits of the result are then added together determining the life path number.
Each life path number corresponds to a specific personality type. The life path number 1, for example, is an aggressive doer with a straightforward outlook on life and set goals. A 1 gains satisfaction from his or her work. A 6 on the other hand, is considered to have a loving and caring attitude. A 6 is a nurturer, sympathetic and in harmony with all the other numbers.
Numerology dates back to ancient times. The Egyptians, Phoenicians, Inca and Mayans all have roots in numerology. Numerology in the Western world today is based on Pythagorean numerology. Borrowing from older, more ancient numerology, the Greek philosopher Pythagoras created the numerology that many are familiar with today. Though he is not the creator of numerology, Pythagoras is credited as the father of numerology due to his contributions to it.
