A couple of short Bible devotions based on Christmas are "The Grinch" and "An Unhurried Holiday." There are Bible devotionals for every season and special occasion or festival in the year.
The Bible devotion titled "The Grinch" is based on the Bible passage found in the book of Matthew 1:23. The author refers to the character of the Grinch from a book by Dr. Seuss. The Grinch hated Christmas day because of all the noise. The author asks whether the reader also has replaced the true meaning and significance of Christmas with a lot of empty noise. The Grinch then realizes, as the reader must also, that there is more to Christmas that does not come from a store.
The Bible devotion titled "An Unhurried Holiday" is based on the Bible verse found in Luke 2:16. The author talks about the hurry, the hustle and the frenzy that usually surrounds the holiday season. He says that people are so caught up in making the day a success that they end up tired, unhappy and even unwell. The author tells us that we should focus on the Christ child, and that alone brings peace, joy and rest into the holiday season.
