The shelf life of cephalexin capsules and tablets is three years when stored correctly, according to the electronic Medicines Compendium. The storage containers must remain tightly closed and must be stored at temperatures below 86 F.
The unreconstituted 125-milligram-per-5-milliliter suspension has a two-year shelf life, while the unreconstituted 250-milligram-per-5-milliliter suspension has a three-year shelf life, states the eMC. The shelf life of reconstituted cephalexin suspensions is 10 days.
Suspension granules must be stored at a temperature below 77 F, notes the eMC. Once mixed, suspensions must be stored at temperatures between 43 F and 59 F or refrigerated at temperatures between 36 F and 46 F.
