All novenas involve nine days of prayer and meditation, so when praying a novena to St. Therese of the Little Flower, you can choose from several prayers directed toward St. Therese, and then use one prayer for each day. You can also say all of the prayers on each of the nine days.
- Choose a time
Take a look at a calendar, and choose nine consecutive days in which to perform your novena. The novena to St. Therese typically begins on the 9th of any given month and concludes on the 17th day of the month, but you may perform it at any time.
- Conduct research
Many prayers have been written both by and about St. Therese of the Little Flower. Research these prayers, and take notes on which of them speak to your heart the most.
- Choose your prayers
Make a choice about which prayers you would like to use during your novena. According to the Society of the Little Flower, the "Miraculous Invocation to St. Therese" is a popular choice to include in a novena to St. Therese.
- Plan the novena
Plan and organize the novena by writing down the chosen prayers in the order you intend to say them. Memorize the prayers or read them from a piece of paper or prayer card.
- Perform the novena
Pray the novena by reciting the chosen prayers for nine consecutive days. Speak the prayers aloud, or silently meditate on them in your mind. The novena concludes after the final prayer is said on the ninth day.
