Resources for free copies of a Baptist church covenant include individual Baptist churches and church websites. Most churches freely distribute printed copies of the church's covenant upon request or include loose copies in hymn books. Many churches also maintain websites that display printable versions of their covenants.
There is no one central Baptist church or church covenant. A key element of the Baptist tradition is the inherent autonomy of each congregation to adopt its own positions, mission statement or covenant. Many churches have adopted the original or a revised version of the covenant written by Baptist Minister John Newton Brown in 1853 that he published with the New Hampshire Confession of Faith. The covenants normally contain a statement of faith along with a promise or statement of the obligation of members to each other and the church.
