To remove mildew stains from vinyl boat seats, wash the seats with dish detergent and water. Difficult stains, such as green mildew, can be removed with household bleach and water. After cleaning and rinsing the seats, a commercial mildew prevention product can be applied to prevent the problem from returning.

  1. Wash the seats with soap and water

Mix liquid dish detergent with warm water, and use the mixture to scrub the seats with a soft scrub brush. Rinse the seats thoroughly, and allow them to air dry.

  2. Treat stains with chlorine bleach

To remove black mildew stains on vinyl, mix 1 cup of chlorine bleach with 9 cups of water. Use a soft cloth to apply the mixture, and allow the bleach to remain on the seats for up to five minutes. To remove green mildew, apply the bleach solution to the stain, and allow it to remain for up to 20 minutes. Rinse the seat thoroughly after removing the stain.

  3. Apply commercial mildew repellent

Choose a commercial product that is specifically designed to prevent mildew on vinyl boat seats. Apply the product to the seats and other affected areas according to the directions on the packaging to prevent mildew from returning.
