Buy vitamin C tablets and a good-quality shampoo, crush the tablets and combine them with the shampoo, apply the mixture to your hair, cover your hair with a plastic cap or bag while the treatment processes, and then wash and condition your hair. Removing hair color with a vitamin C treatment is an easy, healthy way to remove dye from hair, which is less damaging than removing or lightening hair dye with bleach.

  1. Buy the materials that you do not have

Obtain vitamin C tablets that can be crushed, a good shampoo, something to crush the tablets, a container in which the treatment can be mixed, and a shower cap or plastic bag big enough to cover your scalp.

  2. Crush the vitamin C tablets

The number of vitamin C tablets you need to crush depends on the length and thickness of your hair. You will likely need to experiment with varying amounts to find the right concentration.

  3. Combine the crushed vitamin C tablets and some of the shampoo in a clean container

Put the crushed tablets and a generous amount of shampoo in your mixing container. It is better to use more shampoo rather than less to create a good lather. Ensure the mixture is smooth.

  4. Apply the mixture to wet hair

Apply the vitamin-and-shampoo mixture to wet hair as you would a normal shampoo. Create a thick lather to ensure the mixture reaches all of your hair.

  5. Cover your hair while you wait

Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic bag while you let the mixture take effect for about 45 minutes.

  6. Wash out the mixture and condition your hair

Wash the mixture out of your hair and then condition to ensure your hair does not dry out.
