Kraft Foods, now Nabisco's parent company, provides an easy recipe for making banana pudding with Nabisco Nilla wafers. Mix Jell-O brand instant vanilla pudding with milk according to the directions on the box, then layer the pudding mixture with vanilla wafers and banana slices, and top with Cool Whip.
Backofthebox.com has a classic recipe for Nilla wafer banana pudding that involves cooking vanilla custard from scratch. Mix sugar, flour, milk, egg yolks and salt together and cook them in the top of a double boiler until the mixture begins to thicken. Add vanilla extract or flavoring, and cool the custard mixture is cooled. Place several layers of Nabisco Nilla wafers, sliced bananas and cooled custard in alternating layers in a casserole dish with custard as the top layer. Prepare an egg-white meringue by whipping egg whites into a froth and then slowly blending in sugar until stiff peaks form. Place the meringue on top of the pudding layers, and spread it out to completely cover the custard. Bake the entire dessert until the meringue sets and the top is lightly browned. Cool the pudding before serving. Add more Nilla wafers and slices of banana on top of the meringue immediately before serving.
