Some of the psychological states of consciousness include the conscious state, the subconscious state and the unconscious state. The conscious state is awareness of one's self and one's outside environment.
The subconscious is the state of mind that operates below critical-thought functions of the consciousness state. Even though people are unaware of what is happening in their subconscious, it still has an impact on their thoughts, moods and behaviors.
The unconscious state of mind controls the automatic processes of the body without people being aware of this occurring. Some psychologists believe that the unconscious mind is responsible for dreams and automatic thoughts and the location of forgotten memories and implicit knowledge.
