The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is more commonly known as the Mormon Church. It is a Christian religious movement that originated in Salt Lake City, Utah. The movement has built congregations and churches all over the world, and as of 2015, there are over 15 million members.
The teachings of the church focus on four scriptures, including the Old and New Testaments of the bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants. The Latter-day Saints' movement believes that Jesus Christ reveals his will to the president of the organization, and individual members claim to receive personal visions and messages from Jesus Christ.
Male members of the religion may earn their priesthood, but women do not have the opportunity to hold positions in the clergy. However, women may earn positions in other secondary organizations that associate with the church.Learn more about Christianity
