One of the most popular dishes in Brazil is feijoada. This is also the country's national dish, which is of Portuguese origin. Feijoada is a black bean stew made with beef, ham hock, bacon and cured pork.
Some other common and popular dishes are churrasco and barreado, which are meat dishes typically found in the southern regions of Brazil. While in the southeastern areas farofa and frango are popular dishes, the northern and northeast regions have dishes like caruru and moqueca, respectively.
Moqueca is a fish stew cooked in a clay pot. Barbecued meats are other foods that Brazil is famous for. Similarly, popular desserts are brigadeiro and quindim. Brigadeiro is chocolate bonbon similar to a chocolate truffle. Quindim is a Brazilian flan or custard made with coconut.
