People can find online search engines for the Catholic Bible at Catholic.org, DRBO.org and BibleGateWay.com. The websites provide many translations of the Bible that include the full Catholic canon of scripture. Catholic.org also offers daily Bible readings and information about saints, prayers and current events.
The Catholic Bible consists of 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. It differs from the Protestant Bible because of its inclusion of the deuteroncanonical books, which are books and passages of the Old Testament that do not appear in the Hebrew Bible. Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Christians also accept the deuteroncanonical books as scripture.
The Roman Catholic church teaches that translating scripture requires familiarity with the original languages and the application of critical analysis to insure that texts are as accurate as possible and that they remain free from copying errors and omissions.
