The Air Jordan brand of shoes, considered as one of Nike's famous products, is manufactured in China. Nike's Air Jordan is named after retired basketball player Michael Jordan.
The Air Jordan was launched by Nike, Inc., in 1985. Since its release, the franchise has become one of the most sought after products in the shoe industry, with Nike's annual unveiling of its latest Air Jordan models highly anticipated by the media and consumers alike.
In 2004, Jordan visited Dongguan, China, where Air Jordans are mass produced. Some allegations later surfaced that Nike was running a sweatshop and employing minors to work for long hours with extremely low wages. The company was forced to inspect the working conditions of more than 600 of its factories.
