In the poll, those who had children reported that they spent approximately 104 minutes driving each day, while those without children reported driving only 77 minutes a day. A project conducted by George Washington University found that Americans drive twice as much as they did in 1980. As of 2010, people drive approximately 13,476 miles each year, which is an average of 37 miles each day.
