Miller Lite’s alcohol by volume is 4.2 percent, like most light beers in the U.S. The term “light beer” refers to a beer with reduced calorie or alcohol content.

In the U.S., the alcohol content of most light beers is 16 percent lower than that of regular beers. Light beers are often criticized for being less flavorful and are thought to be watered down versions of regular beers. They are usually consumed by people who want to manage their alcohol consumption or minimize their calorie intake. Miller Lite was the first mainstream light beer. It was developed in 1967 and was first introduced in test markets in 1973, then nationally in 1976.
