The mark on Drew Brees' face is a birthmark. When he was 3 years old, his parents considered having the birthmark removed due to a chance that it might become cancerous, but doctors assured his family that the birthmark was completely harmless.
When Drew Brees was growing up, his mother told him, "That's where an angel kissed you." However, it caused a lot of harassment from classmates, who asked him, "What happened to your face?" or called it a roach, a leech or a turd.
In his book, "Coming Back Stronger," Drew Brees wrote about his birthmark: "It's just a part of who I am. I wouldn't consider cutting off my arm. Neither would I cut off my birthmark. If I had ever been forced to remove it, I would have been devastated."
