One scoop is the standard amount required for each cup of coffee in a coffee maker. The size or amount of scoops can vary, however, depending on the type of coffee desired. For example, more scoops are necessary for an espresso, and a smaller scoop is necessary for lattes.
Other details to take into consideration while making coffee is the kind of coffee being used. Some varieties are stronger than others, and some may be silkier or softer to the palate. However, many of the best types of coffee, such as Costa Rican or Arabica, require only one scoop for each cup.
