In that same year, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and South Carolina had the largest Presbyterian populations, representing over 400,000 Presbyterian members. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) formed in 1983 from a merger of the Presbyterian Church in the United States and the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America.
