Health experts recommend that most people drink four pints, or 64 ounces, of water per day. However, the exact amount required varies by the size and activity level of the individual, along with weather conditions. Additionally, individuals are advised to drink more water when thirsty.

Drinking sufficient water helps decrease the risk of kidney stones, cancer, acne and other skin conditions, and constipation. Some studies as of 2014 show that mild dehydration impairs concentration and state of mind, and it can cause headaches. Dehydration can also impair athletic performance and decrease endurance. Some studies show that drinking sufficient water boosts metabolism slightly and helps with weight loss.
