How Many Ounces Are in a Bottle of Wine?
Last Updated Apr 14, 2020 12:37:45 PM ET

A typical bottle of wine is 750 milliliters, and this is equal to approximately 25 ounces. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism considers a standard serving of wine to be 5 ounces, so one bottle of wine roughly produces five standard drinks.
This serving size can vary based on the ABV, or alcohol by volume, of the bottle of wine. Wines range from being 5.5 percent to 21 percent alcohol by volume, and this dramatically affects serving size. The serving size should be decreased if the alcohol content is higher. According to Wine Folly, two people typically drink one standard bottle of wine in 2.5 hours.
