How Many Eggs Make a Pound?
Last Updated Mar 26, 2020 8:46:24 PM ET
The number of eggs in a pound depends on the size of the egg. Egg size is actually determined by the weight of eggs per dozen. In order to determine how many eggs are in a pound, it is necessary to determine the size of the eggs.
An extra-large egg weighs 2 ounces. There are 16 ounces in a pound, so there would be eight extra-large eggs in a pound. A small egg, however, weighs only 1.3 ounces, so it would take 12.3 small eggs to make a pound. Likewise, a medium egg weighs 1.6 ounces, so there would be 10 eggs in every pound of medium-sized eggs.
