According to Domino Sugar, 1 pound of granulated sugar contains approximately 2 1/4 cups of sugar. Therefore, in a 4-pound package, the cook gets an average of 9 cups of sugar for baking.
Confectioners sugar, on the other hand, contains about 3 3/4 cups of sugar per pound before it is sifted. It has more cups per pound because it is ground finer. Brown sugar has a similar ratio to granulated sugar at 2 1/2 cups per pound.
On the smaller end, a single packet of sugar is equal to a teaspoon of sugar. An ounce of sugar is equal to 30 grams of sugar.
