Matthew 25:31-46 is a scripture passage detailing the words of Jesus with regard to how people should relate to the disadvantaged. The passage mainly depicts how important it is to treat such people with kindness and mercy.
Jesus likens the righteous to sheep while the wicked are likened to goats. On judgement day, the sheep will be separated from the goats and allowed to enter the kingdom of Heaven while the goats will be cast out into hell fire.
The sheep are the people who show compassion to the hungry, the sick and poor people in the world. Jesus says that any act of kindness toward such people will be rewarded during judgement. However, individuals who do not assist those in need are considered wicked and will suffer shame on that day of judgement.
Jesus teaches Christians to pay visits to prisoners and look after the sick even if they are strangers. He also emphasizes the need to give shelter or clothing to those individuals who are not fortunate enough to afford these things.Learn more about The Bible
