LTE is faster than standard 4G. Verizon's LTE network offers download speeds between 5 and 8 megabytes per second, abbreviated as mbps. In comparison, Sprint's 4G service provides typical speeds between 3 to 6 megabytes per second, although it is capable of bursts up to 10 megabytes per second.
Verizon's upload speeds between 2 to 5 megabytes per second, versus Sprint's at 1 megabytes per second or lower, show the true speed advantage of LTE. Videos, pictures and emails with large attachments send much faster on an LTE network than a standard 4G network.
T-Mobile's HPSA+ network cannot be considered a true 4G network, but does offer speeds faster than a standard 3G network, coming in between 5 and 8 megabytes per second.
