A regulation lacrosse match is 60 minutes for adults, divided into two 30-minute halves. A regulation match for high school is 50 minutes, divided into 25-minute halves. High school matches are often divided into four quarters and include a 10-minute halftime.
According to US Lacrosse, the national governing body of lacrosse in the United States, coaches can determine if they wish to have a shorter halftime. Lacrosse regulations call for the clock to be stopped at the official's signal and whistle after each goal. Regulations also permit each team to take two 2-minute timeouts each game. These factors must be considered in addition to the regulation playing time.
