How Long Do You Cook a T-Bone Steak in the Oven?

A T-bone steak that is at least 1-inch thick should cook in a pre-heated, oven-safe pan at 450 degrees Fahrenheit between six and nine minutes depending on the level of rareness desired. Many restaurants prepare steaks in this manner.

A good pan to select is a heavy cast-iron skillet. That pan should be heated in the oven with 1 tablespoon of oil in it until it is thoroughly heated. Then the T-bone steak is placed in the pan and timed carefully. Six minutes should provide a rare steak, while the full nine minutes will produce one that is cooked well-done.
