Is Kia an American Made Car?
Although Kia Motors Corporation is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, its automobiles are made by Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. in the United States. The North American auto plant is located on more than 2,200 acres in West Point, Ga., according to KMMG.
KMMG began mass production of its first vehicle, the 2011 Kia Sorento, in the fall of 2009. The company signed a Site Acquisition and Development Agreement with the State of Georgia before building the $1 billion plant, according to KMMG's website. More than 3,000 people work at the Georgia plant, following a 2011 $100 million expansion project that increased the facility's production capacity from 300,000 vehicles per year to 360,000 vehicles per year.
