Christianity holds that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven 40 days after his resurrection. His ascension is briefly mentioned in Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:50-53. Acts 1:9-11 describe it in greater detail.
During the time between his resurrection and ascension, Christ continued to eat, drink and teach his disciples. The Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed state that Christ is now seated at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Christianity teaches that from his seat in heaven, Christ makes constant intercession on behalf of mankind toward God. The Ascension is a major feast day in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.
