A jackfruit tastes similar to a mango and includes notes of peach and pear. The flavor is tropical and the fruit has a somewhat mealy texture.
Jackfruit has an overall sweet and tropical flavor, and generally has a better taste when eaten fresh. The smell is not as pleasant; the aroma it gives off is quite musky. The fruit offers significant nutritional benefits including high levels of protein, vitamin B and potassium.
Jackfruit trees are some of the tallest fruit trees in the world, reaching heights of up to 50 feet. The trees grow in tropical and subtropical climates, in countries such as Bangladesh and India.
