There are numerous free online translations of the Sikh sacred text "Guru Granth Sahib Ji" in English. Many of them show each translated line alongside the original Punjabi text.
Granthsahib.com, which is available as of October 2014, features a typical online English translation of "Guru Granth Sahib Ji," with each of the 1,430 pages reflective of the sacred printed version. Sikhs do not believe in the idea of a sacred language for their holy text, so they typically support or encourage different translations from Punjabi. However, because Sikhs believe in the absolute sanctity of the writing, they request that translations of it follow the original text closely. Changing or rearranging the original Punjabi composition, grammar, structure, meaning or words is forbidden in Sikh culture.
