What Is a Gumamela Flower?

Gumamela is a flower used in many places around the world for herbal medicinal purposes. Also known as the hibiscus, China rose or shoeflower, the gumamela is used as an expectorant, diuretic, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory and more. It is also useful in the making of herbal tea.
The gumamela has long been associated with longevity and well-being in herbal medicine circles. People around the world use it as an herbal remedy to treat everything from minor coughs and fevers to bronchitis, dysentery, and burns or boils on the skin.
For external treatment, the plant is mashed into an ointment to apply to the affected area. Internally, it can be boiled into water and mixed with other ingredients to create a consumable herbal medicine.
