Some good blessings for a baptism are to ask God to provide protection throughout life for the baptized child and prayers for God's help so that the child can find her life's mission. Additional good blessings for a baptism include a wish that the child finds good luck in life as well as laughter and peace. In addition, some good baptism blessings come directly from the Bible such as the blessings in Psalm 139:13-16 and Philippians 1:6.
Baptism blessings that ask for God's protection over the child also commonly thank God for giving the child or her parents faith to bring the child to her baptism. These blessings often include asking God to lead the child's future and keep the child faithful to God through prayer and Bible study. Some blessings that ask for God's protection reference Psalm 91:11 and ask that God's angels take charge over the baptized person to guide her ways. Many blessings tell the child that God loves her. If the child is older at her baptism, the blessing might include a statement that the child's love for God shows in her actions.
Philippians 1:6 says that God begins good work in the lives of his followers. The verse goes on to say that God continues his good work in his people until that work is complete. Similarly, Psalm 139:13-16 says that God creates people before they are born. The verses say that God made each person in a wonderful way and that God carefully prepared each day for every person to live on the earth.
