The front of the boat, or fore end, is the bow. Also called the outer ring, the bow can be made from fiberglass, wood or plastic.
The body of the boat is the hull. The hull has several separate parts that are referred to as the port, which is the left side; starboard, which is the right side; and the center tank. Each location houses several buoyancy tanks.
The bow makes up the outer ring of the haul. Bows can be either square shaped or pointed. The edges of the bow are the gunnel; the very front is called the stem, and the back end is the stern.
