How Do You Get Free Ebooks With Amazon Prime?

To get free ebooks, Amazon Prime members must access the Kindle Store using a Kindle e-reader, Fire tablet, Fire phone or computer. In the Kindle Store, Prime members have access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. All eligible book titles display the Amazon Prime badge and show a Borrow for Free button below the purchase price, which delivers the title to the designated device.

All Amazon Prime paid and trial memberships come with free access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, which features over 800,000 book titles as of September 2015. Prime members are allowed to borrow any book from the library and download the title onto a compatible device, including non-Amazon branded tablets, laptops and mobile phones.

Borrowed books have no return due dates or late fees, but do have other restrictions. Prime members are limited to borrowing one book per calendar month. If a book is borrowed, a “Monthly limit reached” note appears with each eligible title in the Kindle Store. To borrow a subsequent book, the first book must be returned to the library.

Prime members must access the Manage Your Content and Devices tab within their Amazon account to return a book title. All notes, highlights and bookmarks are saved to the member’s account for later reference.
