The Hopi Indians' staple food was corn, and there were more than 24 varieties grown in the region where they lived, including the most popular types, which were blue and yellow. They also ate beans, pumpkins, squash and various fruits.
The Hopi were excellent farmers who even raised turkeys to eat. They hunted extensively using bows and arrows, and they brought home small game, antelope and deer. Women would forage for food, bringing home herbs, nuts and fruits. Different types of cornbread, soups, baked beans and hominy were favorites of the Hopi. The women did the cooking in the Hopi home.
