What Is a Data Series in Excel?

A data series in Excel is a collection of rows or columns that are displayed in a chart. A person can add multiple charts to a data series.
Individuals can represent their data in various ways depending on the type of graph they want to use. In a bar graph, the data series are separated by different colored bars. In a line graph, each line is a different data series. However, in a pie graph, there can be only one data series. Each slice or section of the pie graph represents an individual data point in a single data sequence.
